Jewelry Care

Most of my jewelry collection is made of raw brass. I love brass for its earthy glow & bright 'gold like' shine.

The best thing about brass ~

Is that even when it tarnishes, there's always that luster underneath. With a little love you can get your brass jewelry shining like new!

My first rule for brass jewelry is

Keep it away from moisture! Unless you plan on drying it super well, any moisture left on brass will bring it to spot. At the end of the day, don't leave or store your brass jewelry in the bathroom. Any jewelry left lying around in the bathroom will surely tarnish and spot from being exposed to the humidity from daily showers.     I suggest hanging or storing your jewelry in a dry environment.

My favorite quick spot treat method for cleaning brass jewelry are ultra fine sanding sponges by 3M (available on Amazon)

Another product if you’re look for a quick solution and you don’t have time to soak items is Brasso.

Which you can find at Ace Hardware, Amazon, or any grocery store.

For a deep clean and complete soak,  my go to method to clean brass that has tarnished is as follows:
Directions:

Soak in coco cola for 1 hr +

Then scrub w baking soda, this acts as a fine emollient.

Rinse.

Dry completely, leave no moisture behind.

Should be bright as gold & shining like new!

Also this method is tried & true

What you will need:

 ½ cup vinegar

1 tsp. salt

½ cup flour

 Directions:

1.Stir the vinegar and salt together. After mixing the two, you can then add the flour to create a paste solution.

2.Apply the paste mixture to the tarnished areas of the brass and leave it for 10-15 minutes.

3.After 10-15 minutes, wash the paste away with lukewarm water. Dry it with a clean cloth.

How to care for your Gold Plated Jewelry

All of our jewelry pieces are delicate and need extra care and love. As such, please:

Take off the jewelry if you plan to get wet such as going to the beach, pool, shower, bath, spa etc.

Remove the jewelry before going to sleep, exercise or if you plan to do any physically strenuous activities. This is to avoid any unnecessary wear and tear.

Put on the jewelry last, only after you apply any make-up, skin care products, perfume, hairspray, etc.

Avoid contact with any harsh chemicals such as household cleaners, acid, corrosive substances, etc. This includes not using any chemical jewelry cleaners.

Wipe down your jewelry with a soft, lint-free polishing cloth and store in a sealed bag or box in a cool dry place.
